The inimitable kollokium Projekt 01’s studded dial returns in an all-new execution, which we dare say is the tamest to date – and intendedly so. Out of science fiction dreamscapes and into the real world, Projekt 01 Variant G brings a new, softer palette in shades of blue that gives the highly graphical and three-dimensional design a new edge. Variant G1 features blue PVD hour and minute hands with blue Super-LumiNova center and white seconds hand.

Projekt 01 - Variant "G2" features oblong-shaped hour and minute hands in blue with white Super-LumiNova outlines, an intentionally minimalist design which keeps the textured dial in focus. The blue second hand features an open triangle counterweight, echoing a similar motif found on the crown. 

The 40mm case is made from die-cast steel, with little finishing or embellishment, and its texture is neither matte nor frosted. All edges on the case are slightly rounded off, a natural smoothness resulting from the die-casting process. 

Inside a closed case-back, the Projekt 01 - Variant "G2" is powered by a Swiss-made, automatic movement, La Joux-Perret's G101. 

Variant G is a limited edition of 499 pieces split between two variants: "G1" and "G2".

Back in blue. Marking two years since its debut, kollokium presents the sixth iteration of Projekt 01 (K,P–n°01), dubbed Variant G. This time, the singular neo-brutalist watch takes on grown up hues. But don’t get it twisted: it still has an appetite for drama. One dial with two possible handsets for a combined limited edition of 499 pieces.

Ever since Projekt 01 was introduced, friends and customers of kollokium have been clamoring us to do something in blue. From black with fluorescent accents to a cement-like grey and finally violet, kollokium has leaned into the experimental with Projekt 01. Variant G, however, is an exercise in restraint, exploring a more neutral play of tones, amplified by contrasts, volumes and textures to honor a color that is as sartorial as it is horological. And like every kollokium to date, you can expect a lot of Super-LumiNova.

CASE

There is beauty in rawness and imperfection, and that is precisely what kollokium wanted to convey through Projekt-01, starting with the case.

Forged from 316L stainless steel, the case is not made using typical milling and machining processes at all, though the process is in fact industrial and rather old-school: die casting steel. Why? Well, because they said it couldn’t be done. And because the desired result was one where the case would boast practically no finishing or embellishment, and instead feature a uniform, industrial heavy duty steel tool-like appearance with a specific texture that can only be produced when injecting molten steel into a cast form.

As rough as it looks, it’s unexpectedly soft to the touch. Because of the die-casting process, the edges and angles are slightly rounded off, while the steel has a surface that is neither entirely matte nor sparkly. 

It’s simply die-cast steel in all its industrial glory.
